Welcome to St. Paul UMC, a vibrant community of faith, hope, and love.

Welcome to St. Paul United Methodist Church, the only downtown Dallas congregation rooted in African American traditions of worship. For more than 150 years, we have been a place where all are welcome to encounter God’s grace, grow in faith, and serve our community.

We are a warm, multigenerational, multicultural community located in the heart of the Dallas Arts District. Our ministries serve the city, our history spans the founding of Dallas’s African American community, and our doors are open to you.

In the Heart of the Dallas Arts District

Located in the largest, contiguous urban arts district in the nation.

St. Paul’s distinctive red-brick sanctuary has been the heart of our community since 1927. Built by church members and neighbors from historic Freedmen’s Town, this beautiful two- to three-story building stands as a rare surviving example of an architect-designed African American church from the early twentieth century. Walking through these doors, you’re not just entering a building — you’re stepping into the living legacy of 150+ years of faith, community, and resilience.
